RE:Upload Cerb loader and firmware into empty microcontroller by toxsedyshev on Feb 15, 2016 at 12:55pm

@godefroi - So, empty chip will work as USB device even from factory? Great, thanks!

RE:Upload Cerb loader and firmware into empty microcontroller by toxsedyshev on Feb 15, 2016 at 11:46am

@godefroi - can I do this with empty chip using USB? or only SWD?

RE:Upload Cerb loader and firmware into empty microcontroller by toxsedyshev on Feb 15, 2016 at 10:07am

@andre.m - Why can't I use open-source (4.2) version of binaries with empty chip?

RE:Cerb from scratch by toxsedyshev on Feb 15, 2016 at 10:02am

@andre.m - do I really need to build it by myself? As I understand, everything I need is already built and included into GHI SDK. I only need to upload it into empty microcontroller in the most simple way.

RE:Cerb from scratch by toxsedyshev on Feb 15, 2016 at 9:46am

Right. We can use older open-source version of cerb firmware. But the question is how to use it with empty STM32f4?

RE:Cerb from scratch by toxsedyshev on Feb 15, 2016 at 8:40am

You are right about G30 and all other G*-s. But Cerberus was opensource and it's loader and firmware are included into GHI SDK to be uploaded to empty microcontroller. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Upload Cerb loader and firmware into empty microcontroller by toxsedyshev on Feb 15, 2016 at 5:40am

Hi!

What do I need to run my netmf project on the empty stm32f4? As I understand, it couldn't be programmed over usb, so I need st-link to initially program it over swd, right? Just connect 4 pins and upload Loader.dfu from the GHI SDK? And then I'll be able to upload firmware and netmf program over usb using FezConfig?

BTW, are there any partnumbers of stm32f4 that are preprogrammed on the factory to allow uploading netmf (or any other) loader over usb, with no need in st-link?

RE:GHI Electronics NETMF 2016 SDK Pre-Release 1 by toxsedyshev on Jan 22, 2016 at 7:50am

@andre.m - Maybe "not supported" and "wont work at all" is not the same?

RE:GHI Electronics NETMF 2016 SDK Pre-Release 1 by toxsedyshev on Jan 22, 2016 at 7:32am

@John - So, if I don't use VB, could I use latest GHI SDK with VS2015 or it is not supported at all now?

RE:GHI Electronics NETMF 2016 SDK Pre-Release 1 by toxsedyshev on Jan 22, 2016 at 4:33am

VS2015 works the same as VS2013 after changing back the compiler using this fix: https://www.ghielectronics.com/community/codeshare/entry/1053
Why did you stop to support it? Are there any other issues besides the compiler?
Two versions of VS are too heavy for my 120gb ssd in the laptop. Sad

RE:Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 20, 2015 at 6:47am

@mcalsyn, thank you for the fix!
Who is not subscribed to the issue on GitHub: https://www.ghielectronics.com/community/codeshare/entry/1053

PS. Offtop, but I faced one more behavior difference between VS2013 and VS2015, now in not-NETMF: https://github.com/dotnet/roslyn/issues/4471

RE:Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 16, 2015 at 6:02am

@mcalsyn - Respect your work! Look forward to get your fix! Smiley

RE:Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 14, 2015 at 2:07am

BTW, optimized my code with StringBuilder but was have to add #if NETMF41 to support even FEZ Mini that is used in the first version of imBMW in my friend's car. Yes, FEZ Mini is still alive! Smiley https://github.com/toxsedyshev/imBMW/commit/045759c8a93ee00492f5c5985ea6611c12c07a18

Now I'm fixing all char concats in the project. I hope I won't find some other compiler issues - having both VS2013 and VS2015 on 120gb ssd is a pain.

RE:Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 13, 2015 at 8:39am

As I remember, is was VS2013 with Cerb. So, it proves mcalsyn's investigation about different compiler used in VS2015.

RE:Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 13, 2015 at 7:27am

@mcalsyn - Good job, thank you!

About, StringBuilder, yes, I know, thank you! Smiley There are many not optimized methods to avoid "braking" some code in different NETMF versions starting from 4.1. I hope, I'll optimize them later when run out of resources of Cerb.

RE:Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 13, 2015 at 5:12am

The code in the first post is simplified. The actual code is located here:

https://github.com/toxsedyshev/imBMW/commit/3dbf075e5fa00f212fe615bad1aa6b26506d807b#diff-65b41d023f3080e0520002788879b121L117

public static String ToHex(this byte[] data, Char spacer)
        {
            String s = "";
            foreach (byte b in data)
            {
                if (s.Length > 0)
                {
                    s += spacer;
                }
                s += b.ToHex();
            }
            return s;
        }

RE:Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 13, 2015 at 5:06am

Absolutely! I ported my project from Cerb to G120 and got that bug. Reproduced only on G120.

Char concat by toxsedyshev on Oct 12, 2015 at 7:48pm

Hi!

I have a bug with G120, latest firmware.

var s = "11";
s += ' '; // space
// now s = "1132"

So, space char is converted to byte while concatenating.

RE:It's here...the FEZ Reaper has arrived! by toxsedyshev on Sep 17, 2015 at 3:03pm

@Gus - I read it. There is a new line of devices and all Cerberus devices became legacy. It's about hardware, as I understand. But what about firmware?

RE:It's here...the FEZ Reaper has arrived! by toxsedyshev on Sep 17, 2015 at 10:45am

Hi! Ragarding support of Cerberus firmware. I'm about to start production of devices that are based on Cerberus. How long will it be supported? For example, should I expect bugfixes or even netmf 4.4 for Cerb?
